Position Cisco Network Core Specialist/Engineer (CCIE/Masters Degree required) Location: Manhattan, NY - Onsite 4 days per week Salary: Open / Based on experience This is a full time position working directly for my client. My growing quant hedge fund client is seeking a Network Core Specialist to design, optimize, and secure scalable network infrastructures across datacenter, campus, and cloud environments. This is a highly technical role for someone who can translate business needs into robust network architectures and deliver solutions that ensure high availability and performance. They are looking for outliers in the industry — individuals who bring deep technical expertise and a drive to innovate, automate, and build resilient enterprise-class networks. Key Responsibilities Architect and implement scalable, highly available, and deterministic network solutions across LAN, WAN, datacenter, campus, and cloud environments. Translate business requirements into technical designs and documentation, including diagrams. Lead and deliver projects while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve performance, resilience, and cost efficiency. Provide guidance to reliability teams for implementation and operational support. Act as an L3 escalation point for network performance and availability issues. Identify opportunities for automation and network optimization. Required Qualifications Degree in Network Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. CCNP certification required; CCIE strongly preferred. 7+ years of experience in network engineering and project delivery. Deep expertise in routing and switching: Routing: OSPF, BGP, EVPN Multicast: PIM, RP, MSDP, IGMP, SSM Switching: STP, vPC/MLAG, CDP/LLDP, QoS, HSRP/VRRP, VLAN/VxLAN Proficiency with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (LANZ, Sflow, Kibana, Prometheus, Wireshark, tcptrace, etc.). Strong experience with Cisco and Arista technologies. Proven track record in datacenter and office network buildouts. Hands-on experience with unified communications and voice technologies (Cisco UC/Collaboration). Expertise in cybersecurity solutions (Palo Alto, Fortinet). Cloud networking experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Strong scripting/automation background (Python, Ansible, Git).
