Job Description:

  • Lead the design and development of innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces for luxury and standard motorized RVs that maximize livability, incorporate current design trends, and meet the evolving needs of modern RV travelers.

Responsibilities:

Design Development

  • Create comprehensive interior design plans for various RV models, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and spatial constraints
  • Develop color schemes, material palettes, and fixture selections that align with brand identity and target market preferences
  • Design multifunctional spaces that optimize limited square footage while maintaining comfort and style
  • Produce detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing teams
  • Drive AI-assisted design workflows, including high-quality rendering, rapid variation proposals, and concept visualization to accelerate decision-making
  • Support the Head of Department on strategic design and product development initiatives, providing insights and execution support for immediate term to long-term innovation
  • Support digital and physical prototype development, ensuring seamless integration between virtual models and tangible samples
  • Develop and maintain a virtual and physical material library for efficient access and accurate digital assets for design and production teams and suppliers
  • Assist in creating digital floorplan prototypes, supporting spatial planning and visualization for product development
  • Support interior and exterior graphic and paint development, ensuring alignment with brand aesthetics and functional requirements

Project Management

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams throughout the design process
  • Manage design projects from concept to production, ensuring timely delivery within budget
  • Resolve design challenges related to weight restrictions, safety requirements, and spatial limitations
  • Conduct quality control checks during production to ensure design integrity
  • Support digital and physical prototype development, ensuring seamless integration between virtual models and tangible samples
  • Develop and coordinate SKU tracking and maintenance across cross-functional units to ensure accurate product identification and lifecycle management

Market Research & Innovation

  • Stay current with interior design trends in residential, hospitality, and transportation sectors
  • Research emerging materials and technologies applicable to RV interiors
  • Attend industry trade shows and competitor product launches to gather competitive intelligence
  • Develop innovative storage solutions and space-saving features
  • Contribute to strategic design research, analyzing target buyer personas, lifestyle trends, and cross-industry innovations to inform product direction
  • Conduct competitive market research in collaboration with cross-functional teams, benchmarking design and product performance against industry standards

Client Interaction

  • Consult with potential customers on custom design requests and special orders
  • Present design concepts to executive leadership and key stakeholders
  • Provide input on customer-facing design materials and showroom displays
  • Collect and incorporate customer feedback into future design iterations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation interior design, compact living spaces, or related fields
  • Proficiency in CAD software and design visualization tools
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials suitable for mobile applications
  • Knowledge of materials that balance durability, weight considerations, and aesthetic appeal
  • Understanding of ergonomics and spatial planning for confined areas
  • Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations specific to recreational vehicles
